A great start to break thus far... haven't done anything academic although I did read a fishing book for beginners.
I decided, after a confrontation Friday, that sometimes students do need to know a bit about their teachers on a personal level. And... in the same respect, you can't please everyone all the time. Especially if you are a teacher. So, I guess the personal/mean things that students say just have to be taken lightly. One has to "laugh it off" or shrug it off or whatever because a) students don't really know their teachers and b) usually students say things because they don't want to place the blame on themselves.
Ex: Calling someone who's helped homosexual students a homophobe. Students don't know that I have done that in the past... they don't know a lot about me.
Lastly, I am prejudice... against students who show very little effort. I am prejudice against students who don't show up for class. I am prejudice against students who are disrespectful and think that that is okay. I do have prejudices, but they are based more on merit than anything...
