Thus far today I had a very quiet (they appear to be a laid-back 8am group) class and a 10am class of students that had some, let’s say, interesting poems (next time, I should create the words that they’ll use)… oddly enough, when asked about poetry they were silent. I assigned the “anti-poem” (in true punk form, I suppose) and the “lyrical poem” for Wednesday. I got asked about when I’d have their papers done… while I understand why they ask, I think that question is my least favorite. I could understand if the papers were handed in a month ago, but the deadlines were right before Spring Break. Maybe I should start asking them on daily basis when they are done with the paper. “Are you done grading?” “Are you finished writing?”
[Oh... and I also mentioned the "DIY Paper" as a substitution for the Group Paper. Proposals for the DIY Paper are due before Easter (April 13).]
