For some reason, it hit me today to have a more cooperative working environment in my classes when dealing with poetry. We’re doing a small unit of it this week, and I think I am going to combine the assignment I was going to have them do while I was gone last Friday (My Words) with their ”found” poem for today’s class.
-Essentially, all 5 words for the My Words activity today have to come from other students’ ”found” poem(s).
-And they have to list whose poem(s) they used.
-Beyond that, they also have to create an outline of their Paper 3 on the same sheet as the My Words.
-The My Words, their found poem, and the outline should be handed in before class time is over.
-And for/on Wednesday? Students need to: research Haiku poems & the Haiku format, create a draft of Paper 3 for Speed Peer Review, sign up for Writing Conferences.
-Friday’s lineup will change to Writing Conferences.
-[Many changes to syllabus chart - talk about those in class today as well. Put online during lunch hour?]I started off last Friday not knowing what to do… to now having an idea, a plan, for this week into next week. Brainstorming is a wonderful tool.
