Oddly enough, I think I dreamt last night what I’ll have my English 110 students do today… I’ll split up the class into two, then have one side read Chapter 5 on Revising, and the other side’ll take Chapter 6′s Editing and Proofreading. I’ll place those titles on the board with a vertical line in between ‘em. When the groups come up with a good characteristic/piece of info of either Revising or Editing/Proofreading, they’ll put it/them on the board. From there, I can lecture a bit on the differences as well as show the videos from those chapters. From there, I’ll talk about introductory paragraphs and read examples of intros from the book aloud (pages 138, 140, 143, 151, 153). The genre I was going to cover on Monday was email. I think I could link that to revision/editing/introductions fairly well. And lastly, I’ll give them time to share their AAY Packets in groups, write up an Introduction/Prologue to their AAY Packets (and/or complete the Letter to Future Self from Monday), and also show me their 20+ genres found from the Scavenger Hunt. What’s up for Friday? Roundtable Peer Review (bring rough drafts of Paper 1!), My Words (collage version), and handing in the AAY Packets.
