I sometimes wish I could be content with an old syllabus.
I look back on what I did last fall, and there is so much I want to do differently this coming fall.
It’s a little overwhelming.
And there are still different topics/genres I want to have students try out for Paper 1 or 2 or 3. There’s also the issue of sticking the PPT project in there somewhere (I’m thinking October?) as well as time to discuss Rule of the Bone. I’d also like to do something bigger with that novel – have students write a multi-genre research paper on it, perhaps? I don’t want them to feel they have to analyze the heck out of it, but maybe having them research it from different angles like the text-centered, audience-centered, and author-centered approaches (or even applying ideas outside of literature to the novel like psychological theories, etc.).So much to think about. Thank goodness summer is coming.
