A link from Guven, presenter at MIIIE, about English teachers blogging…
“At first only geeks blogged. Articles about blogging always started with an explanation (“Blog is shortened form of web log“) and went on to explain the post-and-comment format that makes them so much fun. Today everyone from 12-year-olds to button-down corporate executives blogs. This includes teachers.
Many wonderful classroom blogs exist, but for now I want to focus on teachers blogging as professionals. How are we using this remarkable technology that is one part journal, one part faculty workroom?
- We reflect on the day, on our kids, on our practice.
- We comment on whatever has caught our attention.
- We share our frustrations (without, of course, naming names).
- We share cool sites we’ve found.
- We apologize for not blogging more often.”
And what I am interested in is how complex the writing is once students participate in class blogs or community blogs.
