So, I don’t want to take away from the FUN of this project, but today I ran across some students’ PPT MusicVideos that just weren’t up to “par” due to the technical difficulties I’ve been hollering about all last week (you know, the three days when I could’ve helped them & resolved issues & had them preview their PPT on the big screen). And I think most of it is due to not listening well in class, not reading the handout thoroughly if at all, not using me as a resource during WorkDays, skipping WorkDays, and not previewing their PPT on the Preview Day. I guess I just have to focus on those who are listening, reading, and using each day of class fully. Perhaps it’s my own selfishness; I want to see well-done PPTs on the two presentation days… I don’t want to have to troubleshoot yet another day; I want the presentation days to be entertaining for everyone, no stress involved.
I don’t want to have to QUIZ on every dang thing I have them read. It’s not like I am asking them to read my thesis or a novel; it’s a ONE OR TWO PAGE HANDOUT. AaaarrrrrggggG. “What’s the Assessment Letter?” “It’s described in the PPT Handout that you were supposed to read [at the beginning of the project].” “Oh.”
You know, even when I have them read a handout, they ask questions that are answered on it. Like they don’t trust the handout. They think it’s been put together in vain, or something. Or maybe they are simply not REALLY reading it. Maybe I should text the instructions to them?
With that vent out of my system, I must say that my 2pm class produced some fabulous work.
