    Sometimes, I think students are so narrowed in on HAVING to do or be THAT ONE THING that they don’t step back and go, “Wait… it’s not working. I can’t ‘get’ through this class or that class…” Fortunately, when that happened to me (not getting into the Architecture program), I pondered. I didn’t freak out and press on hoping it would JUST HAPPEN eventually. It then dawned on me, when I allowed it to, that I loved to write and create and read and think. Bingo. And I thought back to when I was younger – teaching my siblings on the blackboard in the basement, pouring over books that were handed down from the old school in Noonan, keeping a journal, thinking & living in my head…
