Ken Bain’s speech has got me thinking about what the story is that I can use in my class to make it relevant to students. All students. I think I found a possibility.
MONEY.
Interview well & Create a fabulous resume = job and MONEY. Become an expert & Write a book = MONEY. Give speeches on the topic = MONEY.
They’re here to get a degree and then a job and then a substantial salary… right? Why not tap into that even if that’s not why I necessarily write. Writing well is beneficial to them in more ways than they can understand or see.
