Wade’s a rockstar= LOOK at what he FOUND. So, yup, I have YET ANOTHER class I wanna teach someday. Put that one on my Life List (I thought I was supposed to be checking off things from that list, not adding to it.).
The class tackles the question: Just what IS AN ESSAY? And, oddly enough, this morning I was thinking, “Why aren’t ALL of my assignments (big and small) MULTI-GENRE?” Students already know the essay; it’s part of that statue (see a few past blog entries). Freshman year of high school: “Write an essay about blahblahblah in MLA format.” Sophomore year of high school: “Write an essay about blahblahblah in MLA format.” Junior year of high school: “Write an essay about blahblahblah in MLA format.” Senior year of high school: “Write an essay about blahblahblah in MLA format.” And… really… what have I noticed about my English 110 Paper 3? They LOVE writing it and I LOVE reading it. It’s multi-genre. It’s about them. It’s DIFFERENT. Hmph. Same goes with the PPT MusicVideo.
Once again, I think I need to revamp my syllabi. Shocking? No.
