The Oddest Situation:
Yesterday, I drove my bug through the tundra’s conditions, to Baxter, MN where the closest Steve & Barry’s (they carry SJP’s line, BITTEN) is. Anyhow, I shop shop shop and head up to the registers. As I am unloading my items from the cart, I look up to see two 11-year-olds (possibly 12? 13? What do preteens look like ‘these days’?) behind me in line buying really ugly purses/bags. I probably smiled or looked very nonchalantly at them. As the employee ‘rings’ me up, I ask nicely, “How much was the scarf and underwear?” She states that everything was $8.98 (as their posters had advertised). “Oh,” I say, “Just checking.”
Here’s the odd part = one of the preteens behind me says precisely what I had just said to the cashier to her friend, only in very snotty/mocking tone. I was astonished. Shocked. I frowned as I dug my Visa out of my wallet. I didn’t turn to them and say anything. Didn’t have any witty comment come to my mind. As I walked out, I wondered why the preteen had said it and within ear shot too. I suppose the best thing I could’ve done was what I did end up doing – ignoring them. Perhaps, in true Karma form, they both slipped and fell on their butts in the parking lot later.

Because most preteen girls are snots who think they are on top of the world. She’s buying ugly stuff anyway, that’s karma enough!
Good call, Pennie. I just found it so odd. I mean, I’m 31… am I not past the stage of being bullied?
