  • #214/possible 300 teams. 4 hours, 50 minutes was my team’s time. Amazing!
Somehow, my route had .5 added to it without me knowing until the end. So I ran 7.2 when I thought I was going to run 6.7. Oh well. The wind was the evilness of the day. EVILNESS. But I am not going to sit here and make up excuse after excuse (like some other people… I know…), I didn’t have a good day. It’s hard to prepare and plan for every dang thing. I ate well, I prepared well, and then I used up my best pace during the first three miles. Crap happens. However, I’m glad I did it. I’m proud of my sisters for putting up with it and doing well (neither walked with only some training!), and I’m happy to put that under “my belt.” To check it off my life list. Next year? We’re thinking of doing a family 5K. Walking or running.

Cool notes: There was a Team RamRod (for those Super Trooper lovers out there like me)! I ran into many people I knew at my Relay point, and even met a few cool new people to share running stories with (like how I got passed at last year’s 5K by a woman w/a stroller). My boyfriend found me at mile 5 (25 for marathoners) which was a lift to my spirits. My sisters ran with me into the Dome, and it was lovely to let my legs fly when I hit the incline.

It’s a mental game. Much of life is. And I guess I just like the challenge. Keeps me in check.
