About a year ago: “FargoMarathon results – I ran the 5K in 33:28. I can’t recall how I did at the NDSCS Homecoming 5K (34 minutes?), but I think I have stayed consistent since that fall run or got a little bit better. The race went by so quickly with all the people & jostling for a spot and pace… I learned that I need to wear bright colors so I am easily seen by people who come to cheer me on (my sister, Alisa!) and that the energy bars they give out do not mix well in my nervous stomach before the race. [...] Next year, my sisters and I are looking into the Marathon Relay. Four people run a little over 6 miles a piece… huh. “We’ll see.” And as for today, I am very sore. But I am okay with that because it makes me realize I actually worked hard yesterday morning.” And my sisters were trying to tell me Saturday that the Relay was all my idea. Not so much. Turns out, we must’ve talked about it over pancakes after my 5K. Ah HA!
Right now, it sounds like the family (we’ll throw Dad in something with wheels since he doesn’t think he can walk 3.2 without his back torking him off) may do the 5K together next year. However, I haven’t completely ruled out my ‘half marathon at 32/marathon at 33 plan’. Immediately after the run Saturday, I was like FORGET THIS – I’m going back to 5Ks. But now, now I am thinking deliriously that – Hey, If I did that, I can do more. *sigh* I guess I’ll just get back on the running wagon this summer and see how I feel about it when registration comes up.
Today, I’m on campus to check email and attend a meeting about hiring a Marketing Director. I’ve found myself on another hiring committee, and that’s okay because the next few weeks are quiet ones anyhow.
