  • It’s starting to come together. And I don’t feel as overwhelmed.
… I still want to add in the mini-arguments (because I’ve gotten great feedback about that from students) and shorten up the Class Blog responses (need to find a happy medium between assigning the mini-arguments and the CBs… huh). With the on-campus class, I’m thinking of assigning mini-arguments every Friday (due the following Monday) so they can be the way we start the week. They’ll be small too – 500+ words minimum. However, I don’t know if that’ll work with a strictly online course — oh, wait, my English 120 is going to be a pilot blended course; they’ll meet with with me one-on-one every other week. I had almost forgotten that.
… Plus, I have to figure out what to do with Unit 3 which I’ve devoted to the novel. Giving them a whole week to get into that “Readers Zone.”
… I’ve added a new unit too (Unit 5: Project 3) that will be … drum-roll… a mini-Argumentative PPT. Yea. I’m thinking of taking my English 110 PPT MusicVideo and revise it into a visual argument activity. I think I’ll give the students no more than 50 or 100 words to use (so they have to use visuals to argue which could be harder than it seems)… it’s a miniature activity (only a week long), so I’ll have to equip them with information on how to put PPTs together if they haven’t in the past. Plus, I’m unsure whether to worry about audio; a visual argument would be cool with audio of some sort, but we/they may not have the time.

I’m excited. Sixteen weeks have been lumped strategically together into 7 units. Unit 1 is the Intro unit, Unit 2 is devoted to Paper 1, Unit 3 is for the start of the novel, Unit 4 is for Paper 2, Unit 5 = new Project 3, Unit 6 is the GBP, and then Unit 7 I happily titled Final Stuff.

I feel like I could add more today, but I also should give myself a break. Don’t want to burn out on a Monday.
