  • Anne brought me a scone from the cool bakery in Fergus Falls… that definitely started off yesterday on a beautiful note. Yesterday morning was also site to a marathon of accomplishments. I barely came up for breath long enough to blog about it. I recall looking at the clock around 10am and then it seemed like seconds later, it was noon. I like when that happens, and I don’t like when that happens. It sort of freaks me out.

Anyhow, I created a facts/opinions assignment handout based on what wherethefishlives created (see a previous entry) that should be fun for my students to complete (I’m going to attempt it with my online students as well).

Then, I revised the heck out of my Peer Review activity, creating a new set of instructions that has students actually copying and pasting parts of another student’s paper into a document and labeling those parts with either “Good Stuff” or “Problems.” I hope it is more successful than my other Peer Review activities; I think having them “physically” copying and pasting the goods and bads will cause better feedback to occur (there’s more to the activity, but that’s the jist of it).

I also went back through some of my English 105 (Tech Comm) handouts and tweaked them a bit as well. Add to all that chaos the fact that I talked to Wade about our attendance policy for 30+ minutes and it was a full/fulfilling morning.

Today is looking up as well; I watched the premiere of The Office last night (JAM GOT ENGAGED), hoping the TWINS WOULD WIN without me nervously watching AND THEY DID… then I got a voicemail on my office phone from my dept chair that contained a relieving message. And then Wade hung out in our office and we (Anne, Wade, and I) had a political/religious conversation just as a very cool realtor in town called to say he’d show me that house I’ve been biking/driving by for the last month.

So, as my $1 mug states: “I’M HAVING A NICE DAY, DON’T SCREW IT UP.”
