  • Three Types O People In This World:
    a) The COOL ones who don’t feel the need to explain themselves or apologize for speaking of their cool-dom.
    b) The ones who WANT to be COOL so badly that they barely know who they are. They sidestep the “find out who I am” hurdle and attempt to lunge for the COOL hurdle that is out of their reach.
    c) The ones who are just not COOL at all and probably never will be. Some are not even aware of their un-coolness (typically, they have become know-it-alls or have APR – annoying personality disorder, as a substitution for said coolness).

What do I mean by being COOL one might ponder… well, it’s a combo, in my mind & experience, of being self-aware, confident, and a willingness to go against the flow when necessary to keep their uniqueness. Plus, they aren’t know-it-alls; they are appreciative of others’ thoughts, but, yea, are self-aware enough to speak to only those who will listen. They are confident enough that they can keep their opinion to themselves to keep the peace in an awkward situation.

    Examples:
    1) While having a conversation about politics (or any other “serious” subject”), a Cool Person will just listen, giving input where necessary. Playing devil’s advocate for fun, etc. A Cool Person is aware of what he/she believes and why (whether that’s conservative beliefs or liberal ones); an UnCool Person will probably be persuading those in the bunch to believe his/her side of things. He/she will be unable to joke around, and an UnCool Person will not have the confidence to just let the conversation be that – a conversation.

    2) A Cool Person shops alone (yes, I refer to myself here) because she is self-aware of what looks good on her (according to her) and doesn’t want her opinion or possibly unique purchases to be scrutinized. An UnCool Person rarely thinks outside the box when it comes to anything; he/she is unaware of what he/she even likes so he/she “steals” others’ favorites like perfume or style or catch phrases (I once did these things in high school = uncool).

    3) Cool People have friends because they WANT them. UnCool People have friends because they think they NEED them to be COOL.

    4) A Cool Person needs & wants time alone to be with his/herself. An UnCool Person can’t handle being alone very well.

I think I may be overlapping COOL with another adjective, but oh well. A Cool Person can admit to possibly being incorrect, and I do that all the time. Don’t I, students?

    Remember: School is Cool.

p.s. WHO ordered the SNOW? Dang it!
