  • Tomorrow, I have one class that needs to basically finish their final touches on the first paper… no, I’m not that mean; this isn’t a major, major paper. It’s only an essay of 500+ words answering the question “What Is An Essay?”

But anyhow, I may use the YouTube videos I found below in other classes as the week progresses. I’d like to find some podcasts to use as well, and I think I’d like to use Thursday in a particular class to hit the library. So “we’ll see,” you know. I like how I’ve started to nail down what I want to cover with each class, yet I’m finding ways to emphasize those items with YouTube and podcasts and activities. I’m definitely getting the “hang” of it all… after ten years.

Someone once said that teaching is 10% knowledge and 90% entertainment. I concur. Not only that, but I like to add that to the mixture of critical thinking… like Codi said in one of her Facebook notes: “4. One of the main reasons I like teaching is that I want to challenge my students more than I was challenged in my academic career.”

  • wow i agree that teaching is 10% knowledge 90% entertainment. most of my favorite teachers were the most entertaining ones.

  • @rob1out - Precisely. The reason I went into teaching was because I had teachers who took their knowledge/skill and made it interesting/fun/helpful…
