Another year down in the record books, and what a weird year it was. Well, what a weird semester anyhow. Yea. And after I turn in my grades towards the end of this week (or early next week), I will have completed four years here on campus. Next year is year 5... and my 11th year overall. Yep. Been doing this since the fall of 1999, and I'm 32. Kind of crazy.
Time does fly, but fortunately for me, that time has been exponentially getting more and more enjoyable. Honestly, my high school teaching years were tricky. Too many people telling me what to do, and I didn't have enough education (in 'office politics,' for example) or training (like what they really expected of me). Then in grad school, I was living off loans, hoping that all the research I was reading and all the papers I was writing and all the presentations I was presenting would pay off. Would I land a dream job? In the summer of '05, that appeared to have happened in the last place I would've looked, but that's totally okay with me. My first few years here were the opposite of the honeymoon stage, but now, as my boyfriend pointed out this weekend, things are going pretty damn well for me.
I'm really, REALLY going to miss our workstudy Allison. In the last three years, she's introduced me to file folders and those things called file cabinets. She's listened to my venting, created very cool PPTs with little direction, and knew what I meant when I wanted a handout to "look cool." She's found YouTube videos for me, copied off things at the last minute, and given me Christmas presents when she obviously didn't have to. I have no idea how we'll replace her. I may actually have to rely on myself (which is no fun) and start yapping at Anne when she's in the middle of grading papers. *sigh*
The rest of the week consists of waiting for the Wednesday midnight deadline for most of my final projects in various classes... a second-floor Haverty potluck tomorrow night... potentially a Tastefully Simple party Thursday night (or that may be the one night this week I'll just veg out and watch The Office)... and graduation on Friday followed by some dancing with campus 'peeps.'

Sounds like a full last week. That's great you've had someone like Allison who knows what you're looking for and makes it happen. Hopefully you get another Allison around soon, right?
@PhilippiansThree14 - Hopefully, we'll just clone her.
