  • Pack it UP and move it on OUT...
    Well, eventually.
In preparation for my upcoming move (which isn't a big one, mind you), I'm doing some pre-thinking... about what to get rid of. I have to downgrade a bit since the 2bdrm I'll move into is smaller, and I lose my garage/balcony. Since I want to be surrounded by my favorite stuff, I've already mentally counted out the following: a hand-me-down kitchen table and thrift store chairs, a broken dresser, a vintage chair (going to dad's man cave for safe keeping), crappy black-spray-painted end tables from Walmart, and one or two rugs (red one could easily go in bf's living room), and my old bed (sounds like my brother wants it for their lake place). Those are the big items.

What I'm pre-thinking about are my books and clothing... because those are the things I have the most of, and those will need some major sorting. I'm guessing that the clothing, actually, will be easier to sort than the books. Why? Well, lately, I've been rummaging through that damn closet of mine, and I've tried on countless items only to end up being disappointed with much of what I've purchased in the past (for, yes, under $10 --- cheap items aren't always bargains). I think chucking things that I haven't worn this last school year will be a snap. But to look at all my books and decide what I won't need in the future is a wee bit tougher. Obviously, I'll keep the books I haven't even read. And, yes, there are many of those. From there, I suppose I'll have to go with my gut instinct.

As far as what to pack first, I've decided that my office would be the place to start. I'll pack up everything I don't need for summer school and/or fall preparations. Before that or after, I'll do a thorough sorting of the garage and storage items. Wrap up the Christmas tree, etc. Next would maybe be all my knick-knacks & frames. Small stuff found in the living room, dining room, bedroom, etc. I could then probably pack up winter clothing... and figure out from there which items I'll need up to a certain point. I may use my suitcases to hold clothing I'll need to wear that last week of June. Yea.

This was a "thinking aloud" post, I realize, but if anyone has moving tips or ideas, I'd love to hear/read 'em.
