  • Book-sorting epiphanies
or, at least, items to note:
---When I moved into my apartment three years ago, I brought with me many "zen" books and books "By Sark" and daily mediation-based self-help ones as well as lots of books on racism (accompanied by African American literature). Honestly, I don't know where the latter combination came from except for the fact that I took an "Understanding Racism" class towards the end of my undergraduate years. I mean, I'm always interested in non-white literature, but why were these books in my home collection and not at my campus office?
---Anyhow, I've moved from those genres (for lack of a better word) to fashion books - ALL sorts of 'em! What Not To Wear, and Style: A To Zoe, and various books about Sex & The City too. Plus, I've had a small collection of autobiographies/biographies such as e.e.cummings, Whoopie Goldberg, Paul Reiser's Couplehood & Babyhood, and Ellen's assortment (located at my campus office oddly enough). But now, within the last three years, I've gained a book about Madonna and Nicole Richie's the Truth About Diamonds (which supposedly isn't her autobiography, but whatever).
---It's crazy how tastes change; that's for sure. I mean, I now I have a pretty nice collection of David Sedaris. Three years ago, I think I had purchased his book but not yet read it. As it turns out, he's doing a book signing and reading at NDSU June 9th... very cool.
