• Don'tcha Wish Your Teacher Was...

  Smart like me? Don'tcha?
  Oh, you do. Sometimes. And smart may not be the word. No. Maybe INNOVATIVE is. Yeah. Or creative.

  In the last session I attended yesterday, before zooming back legally to see the NDSCS Homecoming parade & football game today, fueled many ideas for me. Well, a few sessions did that, but the last one had us playing with playdough and cards and markers and squid-like balls that light up. It was FUN. Education is FUN?! Whoa. New concept. Must repeat. LEARNING CAN BE FUN*. One quote that I remember without looking at my notes:

  Why aren't there more creative outlets at the college level?

  Something like that. And that got me thinking, as I was calmly moving colored dough into a box shape and then a bowl shape, etc. Life is so serious at times; tests are serious. Serious serious seriousness. What's the point? Like, So What? If you can't have fun at your job, where CAN you have fun? Isn't THAT a good question? Of EVERYONE? Oddly, if everyone had fun at their jobs they probably wouldn't have to return to educational institutes and I'd be out of a job.

  *And it probably SHOULD be fun if we want students to remember stuff. Just sayin'.
