I've gotten off on the right foot this semester, yet a late foot at that. With the book issues we've had and my new niece and my new activities, I've started off in a different way. Which can be confusing at times. Like, today, I realized that I should probably get to introducing the first papers in both on-campus classes. Like duh. I would've normally done that this last Monday, if not sooner.
Radical Thought: Assigning a few B&Ps (Bits and Pieces) in English 110 where if they spell anything incorrectly (or the other theme could be using commas correctly, etc.), they don't get any credit at all. None. Ooooh. They would be allowed to ask classmates how to spell or use the computer, just like writing a typical paper, but they can't rely on me. Hmm...
Another Radical Activity: I'm going to use Wade's laid-back writing conferences next week for P1 in Eng110 instead of my formal, meet-in-my-office conferences. P1 isn't a beast, and it requires more discussion (just What Is An Essay?); I'll use formal writing conferences for P2 perhaps and/or other bigger papers. Yeah.

I would love to see more examples of your Bits and Pieces ideas. Do you have copies or links to the assignment sheets/descriptions so I could look at them?
@sonnetjoy - I have a list in my syllabus: http://www.scribd.com/doc/46350127/11spring-110-Syllabus-Inkblot
