  • English 110 and English 120.

    With a small week, here's how we'll "CATCH-UP" from last week and start to "WRAP-UP" into next week.
    ||| From last week's email:
    --- Read the rest of the essays from Sedaris on our white chart; there aren't many left. Be prepared to talk about them or summarize them next Wednesday (April 27) in class.
    --- Create/complete your P5.5. Those will be due next Friday (April 29). There is a Dropbox for those.
    --- We'll finish the P5s on Wednesday (April 27), so make sure your P5 letters are ready to be handed in - physically on paper - IN class on Friday (April29).
    --- I'll introduce P6 on Friday, April 29. This project will take us into next week & it's the last "big," individual paper.
    |||
    ||| This week: We'll look at Chapter 26 and write up a CB about offensive phrases... Thursday's reserved for P5 in-class Writing Conferences as well as the introduction to our last project, the Shortfolio - which, for the on-campus English 120ers, has turned into the Utopia Project. Next week, we lose a day due to Agawasie Day, but that should still give them enough time to work, in groups, on Monday and Wed towards wrapping up the Shortfolio. Those projects are presented the Monday of Finals Week.

  • Post-Sick Day.

    ||| Hi all,I'm not feeling very well today (Wed), so for next week, let's do the following:
    --- Read the rest of the essays from Sedaris on our white chart; there aren't many left. Be prepared to talk about them or summarize them next Wednesday(April 27) in class.
    --- Create/complete your P5.5. Those will be due next Friday (April 29). There is a Dropbox for those.
    --- We'll finish the P5s on Wednesday (April 27), so make sure your P5 letters are ready to be handed in - physically on paper - IN class on Friday (April29).
    I think that covers everything. Have a nice Easter break,
    p.s. I'll introduce P6 on Friday, April 29.

    ||| Hi all,
    I'm not feeling very well today (Wed), so for Thursday, let's do the following:
    --- Read Chuck's essay #2.
    --- Write up your last Mini-Argument. We'll hand those in on paper tomorrow.
    *If you look at the Mini-Argue tab online (under Unit 7), you'll see that thereis a fun option for this last one.
    --- The last batch of MyWords is due before class time tomorrow. Please place those online under Unit 7, but don't attach a document.
    --- Create your P5 draft for Peer Review tomorrow. Shoot for 250+ words & make sure to look at that list and implement those items.

  • Little Victories.

    ---Maybe I should consider making more of booklet for the English 110 syllabus next fall. That may be kind of fun. And I should put some essays/articles in there so that if the bookstore has issues with my books again, I'm prepared to have 'em read some things in the syllabus (well, there's always Doc Sharing, too). Here's what I've saved thus far for English 110.
    ---And then there's English 120 Online. I don't have a lot of flexibility with how that syllabus looks, but I could make the printable version pretty neat. Yeah. They jump right into using the book, kind of. Well, the first two weeks are book-free to a certain degree, so I could use some of the articles/essays I have linked to Delicious as reading material during those first days.
    ---I don't have as much new stuff for World Literature (English 240), but I'll dig around this summer...
