  • So, "they" said it was "so cold" out today and that one should bundle up. I sat staring at my entryway closet thinking, "Seriously?" So, I threw on my thick denim GAP coat, a big long scarf, and some mittens. Turns out, it was just fine out (15 degrees according to the Bug; 4 degrees according to the hockey arena's sign). I don't throw on the ND Parka until we're talking massive windchills and such.

    No wonder I never really want to vacation where it's uber warm. I like to not sweat.

    Storyboards are due today for my four classes of English 110 (those who don't like a lot of preps never realize that having 4 of one class isn't fun either); it's a Work Day for the Proposal/Project in English 105. I did get caught up on grading for English 105 yesterday, and I did get to 10 English 110 papers as well. Yea for me!

    Before my 10am class, I'll venture to the World Lit Online and see how those papers are looking.

  • Based on first glance, it looks as though this Photo Essay (Paper 3) was not as big of a success as I had hoped it would be. It looks as though some students didn't take photos (needed to have 7, 3 could've been from the past) or have 3 full pages of text to accompany their photos. Those were the two main requirements... maybe I introduced it too early. Maybe I am just focusing on too few papers right now. Maybe students just procrastinated because that's what they do anyhow, and it had nothing to do with the paper's topic/goal. Hmph...

  • >It's days like these (raining, frizzling, possible snow comin') that make me appreciate the fact that I no longer commute.
    >Just put up the teeny Christmas tree I bought last year. It adds a little festivity to the office...

    Goals for today: Grade some English 110 papers (let's shoot for 10 - and let's grade the posterboard ones first), try out the sample PPT I created last night, print off the NCTE notes I made last night, watch Ellen, and head to TA meeting around 5pm.

  • It was quite the insightful break.
    My grandpa is better now. Thank goodness.
    Yet, in realizing I could lose him and others, I was taught a lesson.

    Then something else hit me.
    My boyfriend and I were out Saturday night, and the jukebox started up "Piano Man." This one really tall guy started getting everyone into singing it, horribly or not.
    The moment was so nice.
    It was as if a banner could've gone across the screen to this whole scene stating: "Your life isn't so bad."
    I just had to smile; I need to cherish moments like that.

    I thoroughly enjoy the holiday season. It's the best feeling to cozy up in huge sweaters and drink hot chocolate and be with friends & family. It helps that the holidays, for me, also mean the ending of the fall semester and the start to a new one. But before the new one shows up, we'd better wrap up this one...

    These next two weeks before Finals Week consist of the following stuff: {see entry above}

    Due to NCTE in Nashville and to the short week last week and to the circumstances with my grandpa, I am way behind on grading. Or at least it feels that way. I need to catch up on English 105 first and then move onto Paper 3s for both English 110 and World Literature.
