• I made a friend today - Ting, an ESL instructor from Tawian. She's really into media & said that she found it funny when she'd see cops in a convenience store sipping coffee because it's so like in the movies. Her comment about the flatness from Minot to Grand Forks made me laugh too. Another person, Shaun, who came with the Rotary crew said he was impressed with how large and comfortable our campus was. I suppose, when you come from a compressed-population space, our campus seems to go on forever. I'm glad Ting and Shaun found our campus welcoming. Wade told Ting we got rid of all the mean ones. She seems into horror films, so I suggested she watch/buy Fargo. I also met Sky, another Tawianese student who is actually attending classes on our campus.

  The rest of the day is pretty lax. I may meet with an advisee during my office hour right now, and then we're discussing one of Chuck's essays (#18) in my 2pm class. There's an all-campus forum at 4pm that I may attend, and then the weekend begins!
