Great article ... about trying to get everyone on the "same page" when really some not-so-great teachers should just hit the highway; it goes back to school itself = I recall classes where the teachers focused more on those "not getting it" rather than those of us who did. We didn't get smarter & they didn't either.

something funny & something serious.
Today, I ...
created new posters for my office & put them up.
Organized other "stuff" in the office to make it a bit more organized-looking.
Heard bad news about a colleague.
Had lunch at El Toro with a cool person.
Met Heidi Heitkamp!
Got an apology.
Figured out the two conferences I want to go to this fall (TYCA & TIES); fill out request forms for both.
Moved the dishwasher & stove out of house (with lots of help).
Made refrigerated cucumbers.
Did the dishes.Tomorrow, I...
will go through my stapled list booklet-y thing.
Go through the pile of stuff I've been wanting to use in class to see what's in there.
Check Google Reader.
Have a conference call with a publisher at 3pm.
Play sand volleyball.
Get a good night's rest because Wednesday is when the semi-pre-chaos begins!

School Drool.
Things I found on Pinterest or via Bing Images... may use them in class (the last one especially).
We start up this week with meetings, meetings, and more meetings disguised as workshops.
But that begins Wednesday, so tomorrow & Tuesday are "Clean Your Damn Office" days for me. Because it needs to be organized.
And I think I need to rearrange stuff... put up new posters, create new posters, take down older pics & replace them with new ones, etc.

Back-To-School Shopping...
No, I really DIDN'T need to shop, but I did anyway.
-Used Endless.com to find two pairs of heels ... red & black... for a total of $80.
-Just ordered quite a few dresses from asos.com (each dress was under $40); they have free shipping back & forth - same goes for Endless.com.
And the kitchen is coming along, too.
The flooring is 70% complete; we purchased 4 appliances yesterday (opened a good old Sears card! = big %off + 6months of zero percent financing), so having new things will be nice...
What we have left to purchase: trim, lighting, table/chairs...Hopefully, if all goes well, I'll be ordering a NEW iMac with the "leftover" summer school money next week.
Woot woot.
I was saying to him last night that... I know teaching all summer can be added stress & time, but it allows us/me to purchase extra things.
It's a win-win, almost. I stay "in the groove" of teaching and learning and figuring out things; my finances stay healthy, too.

Flip-Flopping.
Students (or anyone!) who will change their opinion of anything within a very short time period... are intriguing to me. I've had students seem to dislike me (& the class) one day but change their attitudes, for the positive, the next time I see them. The opposite has happened, too. It's strange stuff.
There's a first time for everything, as well. What would YOU do if a student were to complete a project using other students' pieces from the semester - not his/her own? Yes, these students are in his/her class. No, the project's instructions don't mention this, but they do state one can work in groups. Maybe the other students know their stuff was used (otherwise, that could be a sort of plagiarism, right?)... but maybe they don't & that's strange.
Last thought: Should the evals be the same whether the class is online or not? Ex: Should the same issues show up in my on-campus & online classes OR should they be different as much as they are the same? ... I don't know if I've worded that question correctly...
In Other News:
-Our kitchen floor is covered in plywood.
-We bought a new grill!
